From: Tom Tate
Dear Friend,
I know exactly how it feels to want to fly so bad that you can
taste it. I spent most of my teenage years either dreaming of flying
or my perfect girl. Now I have a wonderful wife and my own aircraft.
I cannot help you with the girl but I want to help you with the
aircraft. :-)
Have you ever dreamed of flying? I mean really flying - like a
bird - not in some huge steel contraption, but flying by just
strapping something to your back and lifting off, feeling the wind
against your skin, zooming over the treetops and seeing the world in
all of its splendor before you. If you have ever dreamed of flying
like this, then I want to make your dream come true just like I did
for myself.
Oh I know how challenging it is to get flying! I mean give me a
break does the average person have $7000 to drop for an aircraft.
And why should you drop $7000 when you can build your own for under
$2000 with good used components.
Me at the Medford International Airshow
Reason One: I have been in the Ultralight aviation
business for 17 years.
Reason Two: I wrote the very first book on the Sport of
Powered Paragliding and over 20,000 people have learned about
Powered Paragliding from my book.
Reason Three: Not only have I thoroughly tested the design, but I have thoroughly tested the plans as well.
I took my plans to another builder and had him use them to build me an aircraft, which I have used for airshow flying.
It seems that everywhere I've looked, all I've found is company after company trying to pass off the same old, high priced aircraft and training packages, as a "revolutionary" new plane.
And the shocking part is, they're all selling the same darn thing:
They promise you an aircraft for $5000-$6000 but do not tell you that you still need a canopy for $3000 and their personal training package for $2000. Your total is usually over $10,000.
... But give me a break! Are they going to make your dream of flying come true? Of course not! This stuff is just too complicated and expensive.
- What you REALLY need is the ability to... Easily Build Your Aircraft
You can build it in a week. Guaranteed!
- Work from a simple and inexpensive design.
You can build it for under $2000.
- Quickly Learn to fly safely.
You can learn to fly yours in a weekend.
- Easily take your aircraft where you want to fly.
The entire aircraft disassembles to fit in your car trunk or on an airline.
- Build a High Quality Aircraft.
Something that will give you years of joyous flight.
- Get a great sense of accomplishment!
You get an amazing sense of accomplishment having built your own aircraft! I have found that people are very impressed when they find out that you have built and flown your own aircraft!!
- To join the elite rank of pilot.
Very few people ever fly their own aircraft. You can be one of the few who ever experience the true joy of soaring over the hills and tree tops.
... and you want it to be EASY!
I know how much I wanted to fly. And I know how difficult it was to find good information to help me get in the air cheaply and safely. I decided that if I wanted to fly that much so must other people. How strong is your desire to fly? And how frustrated are you?
The average person never gets past the major hurtles to get airborne.
You want THREE things:
- You want to get your own aircraft cheaply
- You want enjoy flying through the air when ever and where ever
you want.
- You want to fly safely
... All of which are perfectly reasonable demands!
So I decided to develop a system to help people with these exact same frustrations.
It took me and some friendly engineers 4 months to make the prototype plus 7 months of tweaking to make the plans.
I took my personal "wish list" of features and needs and created a one of a kind system to help you build and fly your own aircraft. Not only does it include the same plans used to build my current aircraft but the total package also contains many new features the help get you flying even more smoothly.
First, I want to tell you about the powerful advanced features that set The Parapropter
Plans Package apart from ANY other plans or aircraft...

I have to admit that while I am a good engineer I am terrible
with my hands. My birdhouses look like ugly packing crates. So I
decided that one of the key elements in the Parapropter design had
to be that it was very easy and quick for anyone to build.
Your Plans come as full sized 24 by 36 inch Professional blueprints.
This makes it easy to read and understand the plans.
Your blueprints show all the parts actual size with except the cage which is 1/4 scale.
Showing the parts actual size means that you do not have to imagine what they will be like. You can normally just line them up with the blueprint to make sure you did it correctly.
Your entire Aircraft can be built with simple hand tools.
So you can build the entire aircraft in your shop with out having to spend any money on expensive tools.
You might be thinking,"But I see welding on the cage." Yes the cage is welded, but you do not have to do this yourself. I sure can't weld. Any boat shop will have a certified aluminum welder who can weld the cage up for you for their shop minimum. Usually around $40.00.
Your entire aircraft can be built in under 40 hours.
After my team and I made the prototype we gave the plans to a builder who made me another aircraft.
The builder made this aircraft in under 40 hours. This is the simplest aircraft in the world to build. You can build your aircraft and be flying in a week.
Testing your Aircraft.
The builders book tells how to easily test your aircraft. For example there is the hang test. You use a beam to hang yourself in your harness from your motor unit and run the throttle up to see how everything feels.
THANK YOU, TOM!!!! It sure was a pleasant
surprise seeing your book in the email last night. I stayed up late
and read the whole thing. Your content is excellent, and the
illustrations are extremely well done. I found they concisely
summarize the material; many times in a humorous way. I can tell you
guys enjoy (and respect) the sport.
You created a great resource for ignorant
people like myself, Tom! Good job!

When I first decided that I wanted to fly I had no money to pay
for schooling or training. Heck, a private pilots license cost $3000
at the time. (More then it cost me to build the entire Parapropter)
And I wanted something I could fly without killing myself. So one of
the things I looked for in an aircraft was one that was EASY to
learn to fly. Notice the cool name EasyUp. :-)
You can learn to fly a Parapropter in a Weekend. A
powered Paraglider is so easy to learn to fly that many people have
just done it on their own. We do not recommend this. We STRONGLY
suggest that you go get lessons from a school. Some schools will
tell you that it takes 8 days to learn others will tell you it takes
2 days.
We will give you a list of schools in your area. When I
learned to fly a Powered Paraglider I had to drive for 12 hours to a
place where I could learn to fly. But since it only took a weekend I
was able to only pay for 1 night of hotel rent. Now a days there are
a LOT more powered Paragliding schools.
You can be set-up, taken-off, fly, land and pack it away by
yourself. Because you do not need any ground crew you can go
flying when ever you want.
Your Aircrafts Center of Lift WAY above Center of
gravity. Because the wing (your paraglider canopy) is so far
above your center of gravity (you and the motor) the aircraft is
incredibly stable. You can fly your Powered Paraglider in weather
that grounds most fixed wing ultralights. You are already under an
open parachute before you ever get off the ground. The incredible
stability of your Parapropter makes it VERY easy to control.
You can take off in 2-10 steps. For your first few take
offs you will have to run down the field for a little bit but after
a little practice you will be able to take off in 10 steps in dead
air and in 2 steps with just a tiny head wind.
You can land in 1 soft step. When landing you pull on
your break lines bringing you and the craft to a total stop. Then
you just sort of step down. It is a lot like landing a parachute but
the Paraglider canopy is a lot larger and more gentle then a
parachute. So you can have very soft landings.
Anyone can fly a Parapropter. I do not know what the
record is but I know of a 72 year old Powered Paraglider pilot and a
12 year old Powered Paraglider pilot. I know of a 346 pound pilot
and an 80lb pilot. I have to guess that if you are reading this page
you fall inside that range. :-)

I am not particularly anti government but I am very anti hassle.
I hate hassles so I figure the simpler I can make my life the more
fun I can have doing what I want now what someone else wants me to
do.
Ultralight Aircraft (Far Part 103) Your Parapropter
falls under a special aviation code section called "Far Part 103".
You can look it up at your library or it is in the back of the book
Going Up in a Parachute but what it basically says is that; because
this aircraft is so small you can fly it with out any licensing or
insurance requirements in the US. (Different countries have
different rules but they are mostly similar).
No Insurance You never have to go through the hassles
of trying to get insurance to fly your aircraft.
No Personal Licensing You never have to get any kind of
license to fly a Parapropter. Some older pilots who can no longer
pass their medical certificates still fly Ultralights because they
do not have to have any license.
No Aircraft Licensing or Registration You never have to
go through the cost or hassle of having to get your aircraft
inspected, licensed or registered.
Hey Tom:
I am one of your customers, and I want to say that I have received more good
information from your book, Going Up in a Parachute, than in all the rest of
my studies, which have been many, put together.
Thanks for rousing my interest in this hobby, and for having such an informative
book.
Best Regards,
Bud Orr
When I started my quest to get flying in my own aircraft I had
some great advantages and some great disadvantages. I had some
talented engineering friends. I was nearly flat broke. I had to save
money and I wanted to make sure this was a quality and inexpensive
way for others to fly as well. I got my first motor from a wrecked
fixed wing Ultralight for very cheap.
Universal Anti Vibration Plate Any quality Powered
Paraglider will have anti-vibration mounts between the motor and the
aircraft frame. In order to make the aircraft design as versatile as
possible we designed an anti-vibration plate that the motor mounts
attach to. This means that you can mount nearly any type of motor
you want inside the frame. A guy in India used a local motorcycle
engine. Because you can use a variety of motors it is easy to find a
cheap used motor that will save you thousands. You can get a good
quality motor for around $500. I have seen them for as little as
$150.
Barely Used Canopies Most schools will sell their
barely used canopies for about 1/2 of what a new canopy would cost.
These canopies can have as little as 3 hours on them. You can also
find cheap used canopies on EBay. Older used canopies can go for as
little as a few hundred dollars.
We give you the resources you need The plans builders’
book and our builders’ only web site give updated sources for all
kinds of components. This will save you time and money in your
bargain hunting.
Hello Tom,
Thanks for assistance just to get me airborne.
I did look around in my area where I stayed, apparently I did met someone who happened to quite active with this sort of flying. Went and approach him and got all the same, almost the same advice you gave me.
In fact that after quite sometime, I did my training with him and to my surprise, true enough, I just wouldn't land back on ground. Such a thrill up there, hanging with some breeze blowing on your face in which you would not get by a car.
Did tell a lot of my friends of the feeling of these type of aircraft.
Thanks again, and happy soaring/floating in air.
Farid
My craving for the sky was so strong that I was tempted to do
anything to get up there but I knew that I would not be happy unless
I did it right. When I set out to get my own aircraft I had to make
sure it would not be a piece of junk. As a kid I once bought a set
of plans for a helicopter thing that would have killed me if I had
built it. I wanted something that I would be proud to show my
friends. I wanted something that was SAFE! I wanted a TOP OF THE
LINE aircraft!!! So with my Engineer friends I designed the best
then figured out how make it easy to build.
- Climb Rate: 300 to 500 feet per minute
It gets you up into the sky quick.
- Aircraft Weight: 25 pounds (Minus Motor)
The Very light weight and strong aluminum frame makes it easy
to handle.
- Triangular cage support design
Very strong cage design will last for many many
years.
- Pilot Weight: 100-250 pounds
Will comfortably and safely fly a variety of pilots increasing
your used resale value.
- Hanging Seat Back Harness Design
Once you are flying the Parapropter is weightless, because it
is suspended from the canopy and you are suspended from it. You
will be sitting in a very comfortable and supportive
harness.
- The Parapropter will take a 2 or 5 gallon tank
You can extend your flying time to over 5 hours of powered
flight time.
- Range 40 miles. (100 miles with Tank Upgrade)
You can fly all day or across country and see some very
interesting places.
- Takes Regular unleaded gas
You can cheaply and quickly pick up gas at any local gas
station.
- Possible Electric Start
With an Electric start you can fly up to any height you want
then shut off the motor and thermal until you decide to power up
again. You can extend your flying time to all day
long.
- Speed 24-30 MPH
Your Parapropter is fast enough to enjoy tree and hill hoping
but slow enough for photography and easy handling.
- The Entire Craft disassembles for Transport
You can throw your Aircraft in the trunk of your car or take it
on an airline as luggage and fly it anywhere.
I have purchased aircraft plans before and all
of them had to have modifications made to them to make the aircraft
be able to fly and be safe to fly. I felt it was a big waste of
money and it took a long time to get to me.
I searched the Internet
and came across Easyup Corp. I emailed Tom from Easyup and asked a
bunch of dumb questions and he took the time to answer each and
every one of them, and with enthusiasm. Even though I hadn’t didn’t
ordered yet.
I felt a bit more confident that the plans were of
decent quality. Tom stayed patient with me and didn’t bug me to buy
buy buy. I was leery of getting more cheap quality plans, and using
money that I wanted to spend my money on the aircraft, not another
bad set of plans.
I got the plans exactly when Tom said that they
would arrive. I was so excited to see that the plans, book,
everything was AWSOME! Very professionally done. That’s when I
realized that “Tom” is “Thomas Tate” The author of Going up in a
Parachute”.
Tom is a very easy guy to talk to, he’s honest, a heck
of an author. Going up in a Parachute is full of useful information.
I read the whole book in one sitting, and now I use it as my
Paramotor bible.
Thanks Tom,
Happy customer – Mike Johnson Tonasket,

Soon you will realize your dream of flight and be soaring over
the hills and treetops with the birds. Lifting free from the bonds
of earth. It is the most exhilarating and freeing feeling you can
imagine.
Important Note: It took me 4 months to design the
Parapropter prototype with some friendly engineering help. If you
had to pay for all the engineering time that went into these plans
it would cost you over $14,500.00 just in design costs.
Then we spent 7 more months refining it and developing the plans.
We have since then spent and still spend time working on resource
updates and extra things like the bonuses below to help get you
flying as fast as you can.
To purchase a new Powered Paraglider would cost you about
$9000 complete. (Don't let them fool you by only giving the
price on a motor).
With these plans you can build your own aircraft for under
$2000. A savings of $7000.
If you order today I would like to get you started building your
own aircraft for only $197 $97.
I want to make sure you have everything you need to
immediately guarantee the success of your flying.
